About N-trak

N-trak is n-scale modular railroading. Modules are built by club members according to N-trak specifications.  Because of the strict standards, modules from different clubs and individuals throughout the United States, can be connected to create portable layouts.  These layouts are set up for train shows and other special events. The temporary layouts can be assembled in a few hours and disassembled even quicker. N-trak is also a great way to be involved in n-scale model railroading even if you don't have room for a home layout.

For more information about N-Trak railroading and the standards, just click the N-trak logo in the navigation bar to the left.

DCC vs Analog

Northwest Georgia Ntrak runs both analog and DCC.  Several of our members have switched their home layouts to DCC.  Our modular layout can run analog, or digital or both on its three main lines and sidings.  Our club system is Digitrax.  If you are not familiar with these two systems, the analog is the older block system that's been around model railroading since its inception.  DCC (Digital Command Control) is a newer system using AC current and each engine has a digital decoder installed with its own digital address.  For more information on DCC operations, stop by the Woodstock Depot for one of our meetings and we'll tell you more and give you a demonstration.
